CHAPTER 24

~SCANDINAVIAN~

Hej alla or hello everyone and welcome back for another episode of “As the Jungle Turns”, the crime fighting/adventure comic that is drawn and written by Pia Langfeld and Jaime Leos based on words selected the drawing game, Monkey Sidebars.  Twice a week, Monkey Sidebar members select a theme/word and you draw accordingly. Many of the members are very creative in their draws.  Yet writing a storyline with the themes selected is very tricky and require tons of brainstorming.

For the theme “Scandinavian” we decided to introduce a new character.  When we last left our heroes they were searching for The Twins.  However leads they were following only lead to dead ends.  At the suggestion of Headquarters, Wayne and Mary find an ex-military soldier and martial arts expert known simply as
“The Scandinavian.”

Jaime Leos- “The Scandinavian was classified and only a handful of people have seen his face. What was known about him was very little, however he was the right man to raid a heavily armed compound. He was court marshaled but given an honorable discharge for saving 12 captured soldiers from a heavily guarded enemy compound without one friendly death.”

When I suggested that we add a new character named “The Scandinavian”, Pia immediately thought of Dolph Lundgren.  Pia works at Lufthansa Airlines and met Dolph as he was boarding.

  While researching Dolph Lundgren, I found a lot of interesting items about him. The above drawing features interesting facts about him including being a 3rd dan black belt and champion martial artist which was helpful in getting him into action movies… AND did you know that ‘Ivan Drago (“I must break you”)’ also has a Master’s in Chemical Engineering and was working towards his doctorate before he went into movies?!?!

Pia Langfeld- “Mary and Wayne meet the The Scandinavian.”

Pia is an awesome portrait artist so I had to recruit her to draw Dolph.  She challenged me to draw him in the Pop Art style but I “chickened out”.  Maybe one day I can return to this challenge in the future.

Mary and Wayne met the The Scandinavian whose real name was Gunnar.
Gunnar got straight to business and used the latest technologies to triangulate The Twins’ location.

Jaime Leos- “Using highly illegal methods to locate the Twins, the Scandinavian was able to listen to a cellphone conversation of a known acquaintance of the villains and traced them to Stockholm, Sweden.”

Pia Langfeld- “The Scandinavian has access to some state of the art technology. With his help, Mary and Wayne finally knew an exact location of The Twins.”

Gunnar found the exact location of The Twins.  However they were heavily protected in a compound and by heavily armed bodyguards.  The team would have to use stealth and technology to enter and capture the Twins.  They would also need to suit up in the newest “armor” to protect themselves.

Our next chapter will reveal the required “armor” needed to enter the compound and provide protection.
